The year 2000 saw first suitcase made of polycarbonate enter the market providing a solution lighter than aluminum and highly durable, this resulted in polycarbonate setting the stage for the hard-shell cases that are now common amongst the leading Travel Goods manufacturers and marketers as well as other players in the luggage industry.
Our Luggage Division is fully equipped to manufacture finished Travel Goods ready for market from Polycarbonate which is vacuum formed in our facility and then moves to the finishing production line to have the handles, wheels and locks installed before finishing of with liners, luggage straps and zips. These completed suitcases are then packed ready for shipping to our customers warehouses or direct to their customers to display and sell.
SrPP
In keeping with the company’s philosophy to continuously seek out new materials, technologies and processes the Luggage Division engaged in an intensive R&D exercise to investigate opportunities presented as the result of SrPP being presented to the market in a number of forms, each one with intricate processing requirements to produce Hard Shell Luggage for the market.
In house innovation resulted in a number of processes being worked on with results that were encouraging, the ultimate result being the manufacture of numerous Hard Shells suitable for the market. This necessitated a new range of dedicated production equipment to produce the required Hard Shells. The finishing process was carried out on the same line as Polycarbonate cases were manufactured on with a few modifications to installation of accessories.
